Led by the members of the Drawing Circle Collective, the exhibition “Reflections on Death” was inaugurated at the Rubio Gallery.

A total of 27 paintings made by 23 artists make up the collection inspired by death.

Techniques such as graphite, charcoal, India ink, pen and digital drawing are observed in the creation of the works that will be exhibited to the public until December 1.

At the inaugural event, fine artist Mónica Rice, coordinator of the FineArts area of the Municipal Arts Center, welcomed all on behalf of the Instituto Municipal de Cultura, Turismo y Arte de Mazatlán and congratulated the group of young members of the Mazatlan collective.

Aurora Acosta and Alonso Aguirre, representatives of Círculo de Drawing, in their message, thanked Cultura Mazatlán for the opportunity provided to exhibit their work on these dates.

“We chose this theme for the dates of November. The theme of death is something that we all have in our thoughts, and we want as a collective to represent the different ways in which death can be represented, different perspectives, being broad and free. This topic is broad and goes a long way,” said Alonso Aguirre.

Enrique Vega Ayala, representing the General Director of the Instituto de Cultura de Mazatlán, Raúl Rico González, inaugurated the event, then they proceeded to cut the ribbon by Acosta and Aguirre.

After the formal ceremony, dozens of people entered the venue to observe the paintings on display, which left a good taste in the mouth due to the critical, satirical, romantic way in which their creators expressed their feelings and reflections on death.
